Who We Are/mission statement
Who We Are
Greater Wausau Christian Services' Mission Statement is:
"Greater Wausau Christian Services, is a community of congregations that brings Christian compassion and hope to individuals and families in elder care facilities, the Marathon County Jail, and the Marathon County Juvenile Facility."
What We Do
We minister to those who live in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, the Marathon County Jail, or the Juvenile Detention Center.
Why We Are in the Community
To minister to those who may feel isolated from the community as well as those who are isolated from society by sharing God's love for them which is revealed in Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection for them and for us.
How We Do What We Do
We are able to minister to others because of the wonderful and gracious support of 14 congregations in the greater Wausau area as well as all the additional support that we receive from so many other congregations and individuals in and out of the area. We truly could not do what is being done without all the help and support that is provided to us by our God as He works throughout the community and beyond to meet the needs of those He loves and cares for.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 25:34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
